PhilharmonieVeedel Baby

Clara Blessing (Oboe), Ada Sternberg (Dance), Concerto Köln (Ensemble), Anna Dmitrieva (Concert master)
What do we see in the mirror each morning? What do babies see when they first discover their reflections? Perhaps laughter, tired eyes, or traces of lost youth. We might perceive doppelgangers or strangers, or encounter faces old and new. Our soloist searches for her reflection and shadow in the concert hall, her oboe singing of passion, rage, and melancholy. She follows Handel's footsteps to London, eventually returning to present-day Cologne. There's much to hear and see for all ages!

Inspired by baby talk, Dadaism, contemporary poetry, and the sounds of old and new music, four music performers declaim, sing, whisper, play music, and interact with their audience. Wortlaut (word sound) works with imagination and joy in nonsense - and at the same time examines the fluid border area between music and language. The result is a joyfully stirred-up mishmash of musical language and spoken sound. The Veedel stages are transformed into a musical playground for babbling along, dancing, and opening your ears.

Anyone who happens upon them can join in the fun and celebration until it's time to say goodbye at the gate, hopefully until they meet again soon.
